On the way to zero waste

Waste are reducing season after season on the camping de la fontaine du Hallate

A lot of small acts founded on common sens help to lower waste quantity exiting the campsite, but it is also the result of the work with the collecting organisation, Vannes agglo, and campers discipline.

The avenues we encourage and apply for this reduction :

- we propose to drink tap water instead of bottled water

- we have set up a tray to collect green waste (peel, tea, coffee) that we mix in dead leaves gathered up during winter on the campsite, that way we obtain a great fertiliser for the garden.

In année, we created the “menhircomposteurs” , ie “composter-menhir”. Indeed , we are in Brittany ! (but I wonder if those will be studied for a UNESCO recognition). Each camper can drop off there its green waste, and I won’t need to empty the former collecting trays, so I gain time to spend to campers (productivity is not only a factory thing!).

- follow sorting waste rules

- we also set up a box to collect bread, that will delight Cahuète and Pralin taste buds, the 2 campsite billy goats

- another tray collect caps for an association, and another one collect used batteries

- we also ask each one to bring back the paper documentations at the end of its stay

Although you don’t find outside bin on the campsite, eachone’s engagment allowed us to reduce household refuse volume from 3,2 liter per night to less than 2 liters in 3 years period.

And what about tending towards the zero waste ? ….goal in sight!

Together let’s go further for cleaner holidays
